Weight Loss and Health Tips – Part IV
More and more people struggle to lose weight today. There are many reasons why this is happening, one of these reasons is lack of some important nutrients in our diet.
High protein diets have become a very popular way to lose weight, because many studies have shown that protein may be able to satisfy hunger better than either fats and carbohydrates.
Proteins are made up of amino acids arranged in different combinations. Next to water, protein is the most abundant substance in the human body. It is part of all body cells and is a vital building block in the growth, maintenance and repair of the body tissue.
Protein in our diet can come from two different sources:plant based(such as nuts, beans and soy)and animal based(eggs, dairy and meat). With the exception of soy, only animal based proteins contain all of the amino acids in sufficient amounts. Plant based proteins contain the same amino acids but some of them may be insufficient amounts to meet our every day requirements.
In terms of Weight Loss, scientists are finding that the most important amino acids are the branch amino acids especially leucine:if your protein intake is rich in leucine, a number of very interesting things occur that can activate a sleepy metabolism and result in losing weight.
An easy way to get a lot of leucine, without any fat, is to use high quality whey protein.
Eating two eggs in the breakfast has been shown to boost weight loss by 70% compared with the same amount of calories from carbohydrates.
Quality protein also helps you sustain muscle during weight loss, improve muscle fitness, improve immunity, improve antioxidant function, build HDL cholesterol, and enhance insulin and leptin function.
A healthy diet should include 2 to 3 servings of lean protein each day, preferably start taking protein at breakfast time.
Protein is an important part of life and nutrition, but is it possible to eat too much protein?
Experts recommend around 120 grams of protein a day.
If you want to increase your protein intake, do it slowly over the course of a week.
